IPL Photo Facial for Skin Rejuvenation

Pro "Light" IPL is a patented Fluorescent Pulsed Light technology used to effectively treat facial redness, flushing and pigmentary problems on face, neck and/or chest.  The Pro "Light" Facial evens skin tone and restores a more youthful appearance to your skin with no downtime.  Whether it be photo facial, foto facial, photofacial, or intense pulsed light...it is all an IPL technology treatment.

How does it work?:

Pro "Light" Facial utilizes the ProliteTM Fluorescent Pulsed Light system to deliver a series of deeply penetrating light pulses to the skin.  Specific filters are selected to maximize effectiveness.  A series of three to five or more treatments are performed at three-week intervals.  After each session, you will experience improvement of skin tone and texture.  The longer term improvements will be fine lines and firmness of the skin.

What is ALA?

IPL™ Pro "Light" Photodynamic Facial offers a more aggressive version of the IPL™ Pro "Light" Facial for patients willing to experience a little downtime that includes increased redness, swelling and peeling, but with more dramatic results. The Photodynamic Facial utilizes the application of ALA (aminolevuric acid also known as Levulan (TM)  and Kerastick (TM) ) is an amino acid that sensitizes the cells to light and allows a deeper penetration of the light energy into the dermis. While the treatment is not recommended for all patients, it is an option for those seeking a more aggressive treatment or those needing to remove pre-cancerous or cancerous cells.   Photoaging and sun damage is dramatically reduced in fewer sessions thereby achieving skin rejuvenation with less treatments.  The number of treatments needed is reduced as results are reached sooner with IPL in combination with aminolevuric acid.

What areas can be treated?:

The Pro "Light" Facial is especially effective in improving appearance of face, neck and chest.  However, it can also be used on any part of the body where there is sun damage or discoloration.

What results can I expect?:

A gradual decrease in overall redness and flushing can be expected.  You will see smoother skin, smaller pore size and fading of sun spots.  The damage from rosacea, a common vascular problem, will show significant improvements.  When combined with internal treatments, IPL corrects the damage caused by rosacea and the internal treatment prevents the reoccurrence of rosacea.

What are treatments like?:

Each treatment takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes.  Some patients may experience a mild discomfort during the treatment.  For sensitive skin, a topical anesthetic may be applied.  Following each treatment, the skin may appear flushed, tiny vessels may be more visible, and brown spots may appear darker.  During the next few hours after treatment, redness should decrease.  With a minimal recovery period and no discomfort after treatment, you may proceed with normal activities after each session.

How soon will I see results?:

You will start to experience a change in skin tone after your first treatment.  Three to six treatments are normally performed for optimal results.  Improvements are gradual and will accelerate after each additional session.  The end results are seen several months after treatment has been completed.  Changes will continue to occur for several months after your session have been completed as collagen is still being stimulated.

Who may not have IPL™ Pro "Light" Facial ?

IPL™ Pro "Light" Facial is for fair to medium fair skin tones (Fitzpatrick I, II, and III).  If you are are Fitzpatrick IV, starting an olive skin tone, then you are not a candidate for IPL.  However, your sun damage color does not determine your skin type.  If you are unsure, then come in for a complimentary consultation to check eligibility.

If you have used Accutane within the last two years, have used steroids within the past two months or are currently taking medications advising you to avoid sun exposure, then you are not a candidate for IPL.  If this is the case, we can recommend other therapies.
